ENG1 expired two weeks before a Med season start, am I stuck ashore?
Best answer"No, book the renewal medical now, most approved doctors turn it around in 48h. Your captain can hold the start if you send the appointment confirmation. Did exactly this in Antibes last May."
How long does it really take to revalidate STCW basic safety?
Which agency actually places interior crew on Med yachts?
Why YWC Forum
Stop guessing from a Facebook group screenshot.
Get the answer from crew who've done the passage. Real questions, marked best-answers, and a community that self-corrects, because the people worth listening to earn the reputation to prove it.
A noisy Facebook group
- Recruiter spam buried between the real answers
- No way to tell who actually knows the answer
- The right reply scrolls off the screen forever
- You can't reach the one person who's done it
- Search finds nothing, it's all locked in a feed
The YWC Forum
- Threaded discussions built for yacht crew, moderated
- Reputation you earn tells you who to trust
- Best-answer surfaces the truth at the top
- Private messages reach the right person directly
- Public threads you can actually read, and find on Google

Contact usIs it really free to read?
Yes. Public threads are free to read with no login, that's the point. Cold visitors arriving from a Google search read genuine discussions and best-answers with zero friction. You only need an account to reply, react, @mention, or DM.
What do I get when I reply?
Your account unlocks everything participatory: post and reply, react and @mention, private-message crew directly, and start earning reputation, badges, and a leaderboard spot. Email digests notify you when someone answers the thread you started. £14.99/month or £99/year.
Is it moderated and professional?
Yes. Reports, moderation logs, and a moderator dashboard keep it crew-grade, not comment-section chaos. Reputation and best-answer mean the people worth listening to rise to the top, and the community self-corrects.
Which threads are public, and which are members-only?
Public-visibility policy is set per category. General advice (e.g. STCW, ENG1, agencies, passages) is public and indexable so it can be found and read freely. Sensitive categories, such as salary or dispute threads, can be members-only. Guests can read public categories but never post; posting always requires a trial. (This per-category policy is being finalised before launch.)
How is this different from a Facebook group?
Threaded discussions instead of a buried feed, reputation so you can tell who actually knows, best-answer that surfaces the truth at the top, real moderation, and search that works. No recruiter spam. And every public thread is a page Google can find, not content locked inside a feed.
Can employers and agencies join in?
Employers and agencies can read every public thread and recruit verified crew on a demo-only plan, there's no public price. Participation (replying, DMs, reputation) lives on the Crew plan, so the conversation stays crew-first.
